The male beauty rituals
While for the most men grooming is reduced to a simple “soldier” routine, others secretly (or not so) reach for the cosmetic arsenal of their female partners. For other yet there are no taboos in the field of beautification. They exactly set the beginning of a new era where men are struggling for equality.
Paradoxically or not, but most of the gentlemen take daily care to deprive their bodies of this feature (though purely physiological) of masculinity, such as beard. According to a survey recently conducted among both sexes, men without beard are instinctively perceived as more quiet and cleanly. When we add the fact that the clean-shaven face and the heady aroma of aftershave predispose women to more caresses, perhaps we will manage to understand this common practice.
Probably for the same motives – to be better accepted in society and more attractive to the opposite sex, modern men more and more narrow the circle of the “permitted” hair. Targeted are not only the hairs in the nose and ears, but also those on the hands, feet and the intimate area. People working in the cosmetic industry will confirm the increasing number of gentlemen visiting beauty salons for eyebrow shaping, waxing and laser hair removal.
The percentage of men who consider it unacceptable to let their hair grow freely, remains extremely high, too. They spend about half a year of their lives to trim it (not accidentally the hair clipper is one of the best selling appliances for personal care in the world).
If it is not about excess hair, then the focus of male vanity would be the insufficient hair. To hide their thinning hair, many of the representatives of the stronger sex resort to daily shaving of the scalp or try to compensate density with length – something, which ladies politely pretend that they don’t notice.
With the release of the first hair dyes for men, gentlemen were given a carte blanche to counter the signs of time along with women. The fast acting and extremely easy to use formula of these products is about to make the dyeing of male hair a common home beauty ritual.
An increased interest and selectivity of men in relation to cosmetic products have seen in the last years. Face cream and lip balm settle among their toiletries along with the shaving and aftershave cosmetics. The representatives of the stronger sex begin to detect the difference between perfume and antiperspirant, to prefer the nourishing and aromatherapeutic properties of shower gel rather than traditional soap.
Together with the hygiene habits that each of us observes, the hair care and the anti aging care, gentlemen invest enviable energy in regular sports activities, too. Some maintain their bodies tight and their weight in norm by sport, while others are so obsessed with the desire to deservedly call themselves the “stronger sex” that spend hours a day gaining muscles.
Although sometimes it seems that vanity goes only to the ladies, let’s not judge the men who take care about their appearance more than usual, but let support their efforts and enthusiasm instead. Thus, each care the man takes to look good, will remind him what diligence his better half invests in her always perfect appearance.
