Intimate gel or lotion should be present in the toilet kit of every woman, as shampoos, toothpastes and face creams are. Ordinary soaps and shower gels, mostly have formulations with neutral pH (5,5) and can disrupt the natural balance of the vagina, thereby enabling the development of harmful bacteria.
Intimate gels and lotions keep the pH balance of the vaginal flora (which ranges between 3.8 and 4.5) as they contain the right dose of lactic acid. These specialized products are also enriched with active ingredients such as aloe vera, calendula, chamomile, sumac and panthenol, which gently cleanse, moisturize, soothe and protect the intimate area.
It is recommended to use an intimate gel or a lotion after every visit to the toilet. But as in most cases this is inconvenient due to a dynamic lifestyle, use it every time you have a bath, always before bedtime and twice a day during menstruation.
You should not wash your intimate area with traditional soap or shower gel before using an intimate gel, because that way you will neutralize the effect of the specialized product.
Try to wash with intimate gel or lotion only the outer parts of your genitals. The vagina has the ability to clean itself and any other intervention with cleansing products may harm it.
It’s better to apply the intimate gel or lotion with hand, not with a bath sponge or a glove. Moreover, bath mitts and sponges collect and spread bacteria, they can also harm the sensitive, delicate skin of the intimate area. Minor injuries not only cause discomfort, but they can also lead to infections if external microorganisms get into them.
Do not point the running water directly to the genitals when rinsing the intimate gel / lotion. Strong jet of water will not only wash away the natural protective secretion of the vagina, but will also assist the entry of harmful bacteria, causing inflammation.
Rely on products from well-known cosmetics manufacturers only. Thus, you will reduce the risk of using formulas with irritating, even harmful ingredients, which may cause discomfort and disturb the natural balance in your intimate area.
