The dark circles (shadows) under the eyes are the clearest sign of insufficient sleep or fatigue. They can be very unpleasant “patch” to the overall appearance, giving us weary, sad and pale look. Here’s how to get rid of the dark circles under the eyes – both externally and internally.
Try to create a proper sleep routine
Try to go to bed and to get up at one and the same time every day and to sleep between 7 and 9 hours daily. This way, you will allow your body to relax fully and to be ready for the stress on the next day.
Keep your nasal cavities empty and clean
Stuffy nose due to fever or allergy can cause dark circles around the eyes, as under the influence of tension, veins around the sinus darken and expand. So take all necessary curative measures and blow your nose often.
Pay attention to your diet
Try to take healthy and balanced food and plenty of water to maintain the blood circulation in norm. Sometimes, the dark circles are caused by a deficiency of vitamins, so eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid alcohol, cigarettes and salt.
Put cucumber slices twice daily for a week
The cucumber has lightening, hydrating, astringent, refreshing and soothing effect and instantly restores the skin around the eyes. Before you put the slices on the eyes for about 10 minutes, leave them for half an hour in the refrigerator.
Moisturize the eye area every day
It is best to use a cream with restorative and soothing ingredients (rose or lavender). Rub it with soft massage movements to assist its absorption by the skin and to stimulate the blood circulation, which in turn, will reduce the dark circles.
Apply an eye serum before bedtime
Because the skin around the eyes is more delicate and vulnerable, it needs extra care. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and retinol will tone and refresh it instantly, will accelerate its regeneration and will remove the signs of aging, including the dark circles.
Do not strain your eyes too much
Avoid reading in an inappropriate light, take a few minutes rest every hour when you work on a computer, and if it is possible, put a lukewarm compress on your eyes and relax in a darkened room for a while.
