The steam bath is one of the most recommended methods for pore cleansing, which is quite simple and can be used at home. You need only hot water and essential oils or herbs of your choice … and 15 minutes of free time.
To make a steam bath, pour 4 cups of water in a saucepan and let it boil. Meanwhile, you can use that time to clean your face from makeup and to prepare it for the procedure.
Then, add 6-7 drops of lavender or bergamot oil, or other favorite aroma. If you don’t have an essential oil, add a handful of fresh or dried herbs.
• Chamomile, lemon grass, lavender and rosemary are suitable for oily skin.
• Calendula, rose petals, mint and chamomile are recommended for dry skin.
• Orange blossom, rosemary and dandelion are appropriate for mature skin.
• It’s best to use chamomile, lemon balm, lavender or linden if your skin type is normal.
Cover the pan with a lid and let the oil or the herbs brew for about 5 minutes.
Pour the liquid into an appropriate bowl. Sit comfortably keeping your face at about 20 cm over the bowl. Cover your head with a towel, so that steam cannot deviate and falls directly onto your skin. Stay like this for about five minutes and uncover your head to take a rest for 30 seconds and repeat.
Wash your face with warm water and remove dirt from the pores with a pad soaked in a mild cleansing tonic. Rinse again, this time with cold water and wipe your face gently with a soft cotton cloth. In the end, apply a light non-greasy moisturizing product.
