Conditioner and hair mask are recommended complementary care for beautiful, healthy, and shiny hair. Unfortunately, many women tend to skip their use or do not know how to apply them correctly. And believe me, the latter really matters! So let's listen to the advice and see the difference for ourselves.
Hair conditioner is a necessary second step in the hair washing ritual, as it softens, nourishes, and protects the hair, helps lock in moisture, and as a result, facilitates detangling.
On the other hand, a hair mask needs to be used only 1-2 times a week, but it provides a solid dose of restorative and nourishing components for instant hair revitalization.
It is very important to choose a conditioner and hair mask according to the needs of the hair – curly, prone to tangling, damaged, colored, dry, oily, or with a sensitive scalp. For every problem, there is a solution in the form of specialized formulas with active ingredients that care for the hair from root to tip and in depth.
Hair conditioner
For the conditioner's ingredients to penetrate better, it's good to rub and massage the hair and scalp well when washing with shampoo.
It is recommended to rinse with cool water – it closes the follicles and prevents breakage. When the hair starts to "creak" under our fingers, we are ready for the second step – applying conditioner.
It is necessary to carefully squeeze out the water – otherwise, the conditioner will not stay on the hair.
Pour into your palm (depending on the length, for long hair you can fill it) and apply, aiming to get it on every strand and mainly on the lower half of the hair (which is also the most damaged).
Otherwise, we may clog the follicles on the scalp, which can slow down growth or increase oiliness.
It is good to leave the conditioner on the hair for as long as possible to work effectively. We can use the time for other procedures. Rinse the hair again with cool water until it becomes smooth and the "slippery" effect is removed.
Hair mask
It is applied to washed, but towel-dried hair, so that it stays on the hair and at the same time is absorbed into it through the moisture.
If you have thin or oily hair, it is advisable to apply it along the length, but without getting it on the roots. For thicker, dry, and damaged hair, you can apply it all over the head.
The formula will be distributed more evenly if we first massage from root to tip, and then gently comb the strands with our fingers.
For maximum effectiveness of the hair mask, experts recommend wrapping the hair in a warm towel for about 10 minutes. This way, the ingredients will come into direct contact with the hair, which will facilitate their absorption. If we want to be as correct as possible in the execution, it would be good to include a hairdryer for a few minutes through the towel.
If our hair is in very bad condition, it is good to leave the mask on for another 10 minutes after removing the towel. And before the final rinse, massage the scalp with cool water to reactivate the formula.
