Retinol (RETINOL)

Retinol (Vitamin A) is recognized as one of the most effective active ingredients in modern dermo-cosmetics. Retinol works at a cellular level, normalizing sun-damaged skin, increasing metabolic activity, and stimulating the natural biosynthesis of collagen. By accelerating cell renewal, it effectively smooths texture, increases elasticity, and restores a healthy glow to the face.

These are the main components and mechanisms of action that make retinol indispensable for the skin:

  • Epidermal Thickening and Renewal: Clinical studies confirm that topical application of retinol causes epidermal thickening. By stimulating cell growth, it replaces damaged cells with healthy ones, leading to a denser and more resilient skin structure.
  • Collagen Synthesis and MMP Inhibition: Retinol acts as a powerful corrective agent that inhibits matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) – enzymes responsible for collagen degradation. At the same time, it stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen, significantly reducing fine lines and deep wrinkles.
  • Photodamage Restoration: Extremely effective in treating damage caused by UV rays. Retinol helps fade hyperpigmentation, smooth uneven texture, and correct loss of elasticity associated with excessive sun exposure.
  • Control of Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL): Unlike more aggressive retinoids, retinol is better tolerated by the skin barrier. It causes significantly less redness, erythema, and peeling, while maintaining hydration levels more effectively during the renewal process.
  • Synergy with Vitamin C: The combined application of retinol with antioxidants like Vitamin C enhances its ability to reverse skin changes caused by external factors, providing a comprehensive rejuvenating effect.

Metabolic Stimulation: Retinol increases the overall metabolic activity of cells, ensuring that the skin remains vital, clear, and capable of repairing itself from daily environmental stress.
